What can I do at a Lukeport agent location?Customers
Six service areas, though not every counter offers all of them. BVN and NIN enrolment in particular need biometric equipment, so ask before you travel if you need a specific one.
- Cash in and cash out: deposits and withdrawals
- Agency banking: account opening and BVN registration
- Identity management: NIN and BVN enrolment, SIM registration and biometric capture
- Bill payments: electricity, water, cable TV, taxes and government services
- Funds transfer and airtime across all networks
- Government disbursement and enrolment programmes
What is the minimum amount to open an account?Customers
N1,000. That covers the cost of the debit card, which is issued at the agent location once the initial deposit covers it.
What do I need to bring to open an account?Customers
A valid means of identification, your BVN if you already have one, a passport photograph, and a phone number registered in your own name. Arriving with all four is the difference between opening an account in one visit and making two trips.
How soon is the account funded, and when will I hear from the bank?Customers
The account is funded immediately after the agent creates it. A welcome SMS containing your account number follows within 24–48 hours.
Can I update my account details at any bank branch?Customers
Yes. Once the account is open, you can update your details at any branch of the bank. You are not tied to the agent who opened it.
How do I retrieve my BVN?Customers
Dial *565*0# from the phone number linked to the BVN. Standard network and service charges apply.
How do I know an agent is genuinely part of the network?Customers
A Lukeport counter displays Lukeport branding and the agent can produce their agent identification on request. If you are unsure, ask us through the help channel on this site before you transact.
My transaction was debited but not completed. What now?Customers
Report it at the counter first. The agent can raise it from their end immediately, and most reversals are resolved that way. If it is not resolved, contact us through the help channel with the date, amount and location, and we will escalate it.
What type of account can I open for customers?Agents
A Tier 1 savings account. You earn commission on every account opened with funds, and on every debit card issued at your location.
Can I issue a debit card at my location?Agents
Yes. The card is issued once the initial deposit into the account covers its cost, which is what the N1,000 minimum is for.
What transactions can a Lukeport agent carry out?Agents
The full counter offering, across financial and non-financial services:
- Cash out: withdrawal of funds from a customer’s own account
- Cash in: deposit into the customer’s own or a third-party account
- Airtime recharge: MTN, Glo, 9mobile and Airtel
- Payment collection: POS for merchants and businesses
- Bill payment: electricity, water, waste, DStv, GOtv, StarTimes, ACTV, and local and state government levies, taxes and estate permits
- Funds transfer: send money to anyone nationwide
- Payments: online purchases, airline tickets, embassy fees and similar
What are the benefits of becoming an agent?Agents
Commission is the obvious one. The rest is what keeps a counter trading:
- Revenue from commissions and incentives
- Services unique to Lukeport that set you apart from other businesses
- Prominence from being part of an innovative brand
- A way to manage your physical cash volumes under current CBN regulations
- Increased sales from the additional foot traffic a counter brings
- A direct contribution to financial inclusion in your own community
How do I become an agent?Agents
Apply through the Become an Agent page on this site, provide the required documents and information, and you get access to the available services once approved. If you would rather speak to someone first, call +234 811 395 3622.
How long does an application take?Agents
You receive a reference number immediately. Onboarding is completed within three working days, and we contact you on the number you provided either way, including if the application is unsuccessful.
Do I need to print or scan anything?Agents
No. The application is completed entirely on a phone. If any part of the process asks you to print a form, it is out of date. Tell us.
A transaction failed mid-way. What is the escalation route?Agents
Raise it from the agent application first. If it is not resolved, use the help channel on this site. Unresolved questions hand off to our WhatsApp support line with your conversation attached, so you do not have to repeat yourself.
How is my float managed?Agents
You hold cash and electronic value, and both move as you trade. Network operations monitor balance positions and rebalance ahead of predictable local surges such as market days and month-end. Flag a shortfall early rather than when the queue has formed.
How long does BVN generation take?BVN enrolment
Up to 48–72 hours after approval, subject to successful processing and NIBSS system availability. That 48–72 hours is the agent SLA; onboarding itself is within three working days.
What is the BVN generation SLA?BVN enrolment
For agents, 48 to 72 hours for BVN generation. Onboarding itself is completed within three working days.
What does IN PROGRESS mean?BVN enrolment
The enrolment has been submitted and NIBSS is still reviewing it before generating the BVN. Wait for the status to update rather than re-enrolling.
What does FAILED mean?BVN enrolment
The enrolment could not be processed. Check the specific reason given before attempting any further action, because the fix depends on the reason.
What does FAILED (CENTRAL PROCESSING) mean?BVN enrolment
The BVN has not yet been attached by NIBSS.
What should I do if an enrolment is REJECTED?BVN enrolment
Re-enrol the customer, observing all BVN enrolment rules.
What is Central Risk Management?BVN enrolment
It means the enrolment has been flagged as a duplicate. The customer already had a BVN before coming for a re-enrolment. Contact the support channel with the enrolment details for follow-up. Do not create further duplicate enrolments.
What should I do when an enrolment is stuck with Central Risk Management?BVN enrolment
Contact the appropriate support channel and provide the enrolment details so it can be retrieved and followed up. Do not create duplicate enrolments in the meantime, because that is what caused the flag.
What should I do if my enrolment is NOT SYNCED?BVN enrolment
The enrolment data has not synchronised with the system. Sync requires mobile data switched on, a good network connection and an up-to-date app. If it still will not sync after that, it needs technical follow-up rather than a fresh enrolment.
What does NOT SYNCED mean on its own?BVN enrolment
The enrolment data has not synchronised with the relevant system. If a good connection and an up-to-date app do not clear it, the issue needs technical follow-up. Do not re-enrol the customer to try to force it through.
Why do I keep getting Bad Photo Quality?BVN enrolment
It is a general issue from NIBSS and they are working on a lasting fix. In the meantime it is largely avoidable: enrol the customer with a clear photograph against a plain white background.
How should a customer sit for a good BVN photograph?BVN enrolment
Four things, and they matter more than the camera:
- Sit upright and face the camera directly
- Do not bend the neck
- Do not laugh or show teeth
- Place a plain white background on the wall behind the customer
What device do I need for BVN enrolment?BVN enrolment
An Android 14 or higher device with a good-quality camera, running the approved current version of the enrolment application.
What happens if the customer’s ID card is invalid?BVN enrolment
The enrolment will not proceed successfully. The customer must provide a valid and acceptable means of identification.
What is the age requirement for BVN enrolment?BVN enrolment
BVN enrolment is for customers aged 18 and above.
Can a customer change the phone number linked to their BVN?BVN enrolment
Yes, subject to the applicable verification requirements. Under the current rule, a phone-number change is permitted once.
Can a customer change the name attached to their BVN?BVN enrolment
Yes. A change or correction of name must be requested through an approved BVN service channel and supported with valid documents.
What does the aggregator programme actually provide?Aggregators
The compliance position your agents operate under, the settlement relationship, a defined escalation route, and account management with a named contact. Commissions are part of the commercial terms and are discussed directly.
Can I review your compliance documents before committing?Aggregators
Yes. That is what the compliance page is for. The Trust Mark certificate and licence reference are published there for you to download and keep on your own file.
What happens to my cluster if I leave the programme?Aggregators
Cluster arrangements and their exit terms are set out in the aggregator agreement. Ask for that document during discussions, not after signing, and be wary of any network that will not show it to you upfront.
